Retail news - New Tesco in Cork creates 100 new Jobs

Posted on Oct 24, 2014 Tesco have created 104 new jobs as its newest store opened in Cork this morning. It brings the number of stores in its Irish network to 147 with the 32,000 sq ft outlet in Ballincollig employing 125 people mostly from the nearby locality, and over 300 covered car parking spaces.Tesco currently employ nearly 15,000 people nationally and 1,100 in Co. Cork.

Retail news - Homebase to slash a quarter of its stores

Posted on Oct 23, 2014 Homebase will close a quarter of its store between now and 2018 after a review by its parent company Home Retail Group cited failing sales performance and online rivals as its reasons. Homebase operates 12 stores in the Republic and said that 25% of its 323 stores will eventually cease to operate, shutting 30 alone in the current financial year.
