Our client, a hugely popular homeware and fashion retailer, is seeking a confident Assistant Product Technologist for their Home & Lifestyle team. As Assistant Product Technologist for our client’s Home & Lifestyle team, you must already have strong technical expertise to deliver quality products that are safe, legal and fit for purpose. You will come with experience in homeware, soft furnishings and toys and be up-to-date on relevant testing. Dublin city centre based.

Your day-to-day of this Assistant Product Technologist job include:

  • Demonstrate technical knowledge to support the delivery of quality products that are safe, legal and fit for purpose.
  • Assist with product development and adhere to “the Best Practice” sample process flow
  • Investigate all Gold Seal rejections and communicate quality issues to product operations teams and suppliers
  • Build competitor awareness to enable quality, fit and performance benchmarking versus key competitors
  • Work with the compliance team to ensure the company quality standards are in line with industry standards (Value/Volume retail).
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the legal/product/retail requirements for labelling
  • Assist in identifying potential fit, fabric or component quality issues
  • Compile and conclude tech packs and score card analysis as part of the delivery of the key line programme to ensure Primark quality standards and cost efficiencies are achieved
  • Investigate and support resolution of quality issues in a timely manner with clear solutions and communication to all relevant stakeholders

Requirements for this Assistant Product Technologist job include:

  • 2+ years experience in similar position
  • Proactive problem solver and commercially minded
  • Full understanding of mass production
  • Experience of working hand-in-hand to varied supplier base
  • Experience of implementing process and following through to review
  • Experience of managing and delivering on projects

Your day-to-day of these Product Technologist jobs include:

  • Driving the delivery of the departmental and quality strategy in line with customer’s expectations
  • Applying quality standards and commercially evaluating product testing
  • Monitoring returns reports
  • Undertaking benchmarking exercises with competitors
  • Adhering to and ensuring best practices are followed
  • Liaise with retail teams to understand and interpret customer feedback on quality issues
  • In partnership with the buying teams, participate in supplier meetings to drive the quality agenda
  • Engaging with Sourcing and Ethical to understand supplier performance.
  • Identifying opportunities where process efficiencies can be developed and drive cost savings
  • Through training and engagement with Buying and Suppliers, improve the sampling hit rate

Quality & Training Manager

Excel Recruitment is seeking a Quality and Training Manager for a multinational logistics company in North Dublin. This Manager will be tasked with reviewing internal policies and standards with a view to highlighting and implementing improvements and efficiency’s. The main focus of this position is to work alongside senior management to optimise work flow and procedures in order to meet company objectives and targets.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develops policies, procedures and initiatives within the quality function
  • Ensure company values and objectives are compliant with recognised standards and regulatory agencies
  • Responsible for creation, approval and control of all procedures, instructions and records
  • Compilation and completion of documentation to support operational activities
  • Facilitate and coordinate internal audits
  • Implement policies and procedures to improve safety and quality of service to stakeholders
  • Plans, leads and directs projects from conception to completion
  • Organising training and development programs for staff and management
  • Promote a safe and secure working environment through the practice of safety programs and procedures
  • Promote productivity through accountability’s and process that ensure company targets are achieved

Main Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in 3 PL/Contract Logistics
  • Green belt in Lean Six Sigma
  • Project Management experience working with cross functional teams
  • Third level degree with Science, Quality or Engineering is essential
