The biggest award of the night, Shelflife National Grocery Manager of the Year went to Ray O’ Callaghan from Marks and Spencer, Patrick Street, Cork , who spoke movingly about his involvement with Downs Syndrome and how well his employer facilitated his work in-store.
Excel Recruitment have been involved with the awards since their foundation and are delighted to continue this partnership as the Awards grow and become bigger and better.
Our Head of Grocery Nikki Murran was kept busy on the night presenting two awards- Best Customer Service Manager to Ray O’Callaghan from Marks and Spencer Patrick Street and Best HR Manager to Ezolda Chambers from Caulfield’s SuperValu
CEO of Excel Recruitment Barry Whelan, co-founder and judge, says
“When John and I started these awards in 2003 it was with one thing in mind. To recognise and reward the best managers. We are not recognising the biggest store or the store with the best consumer insights or cleverest marketing campaign. We are not here to recognise the best margin or highest footfall. These awards are or the managers who most inspire, who show the most dedication and a real love of the retail trade. It is for managers that show young people that working in retail isn’t just a weekend job, but a worthwhile career.”
Massive congratulations to all the nominees winners from the Excel team and we’re already looking forward to next year.
