Trainee Buyer – Gift job in Dublin city centre

Our client has developed a strong Irish retail brand, led by their clothing, homeware and giftware. Their offer is an exciting blend of contemporary products and they are expanding their business continuously. The ideal Buying candidate will be extremely organised and be able to hit the ground running within this growing Irish retailer. You will be supporting the Senior Buyer on their Gift categories and will work closely with all parts of the business to ensure profitable results.

*The role will involve some weekend work (shared out among the team) so some flexibility is required.

Your day-to-day:

  • Provide administrative support to the buying team, in particular the gift buyer
  • Regular/ weekly store visits (including regional stores) to ensure all sections are looking neat, tidy and fully stocked
  • Communicate to the stores if they need to order any new line and follow up
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with external contacts in particular suppliers
  • Place orders with suppliers and ensure invoices are processed
  • Assist the buyer to source new products
  • Assist the buyer to build relationships and work closely with the online team ensuring the correct setup of new and existing products and promotions
  • Assist the buyer to maintain the system in respect of cost price, selling price and currency changes
  • Coordinate the supply chain from vendor to warehouse and into store
  • Set up promotions in conjunction with the Gift Buying team, and retail team
  • Keep up to date with trends and competitors in the market place
  • Assist the buyer to create and maintain planograms for new and existing stock within stores

Experience you will need to hold:

  • Strong retail background
  • Previous Buying admin. experience
  • Qualification in Buying, Merchandising an advantage.
  • Strong PC skills including excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking

Salary: circa €30-35k DOE & benefits
